Tyre Management Policy – the reality

By | November 25, 2018

Does your company have a robust tyre management policy? and do you ‘Walk the Walk’ where tyre management is concerned?

There are obvious consequences to having an effective Tyre Management policy in place within your organisation and benefits in terms of fuel efficiency and in making sure your vehicles are roadworthy and safe when out on the road

Tyre management is coming under renewed focus from the DVSA in a recent announcement from them that a vehicle or trailer found with a 10 year old tyre in place will result in a ‘follow-up investigation’ and may lead to ‘them being referred the Office of the Traffic Commissioner for further regulatory action’ – see the link below

Additionally, Tyre Management is given it’s own section under the new FORS Standard Version 5.0 and is the subject of specific requirements including a written Tyre Management Policy and being able to demonstrate the policy is being effectively enacted
